Why it exists
Two reasons people reach out.
A SIM card. A haircut. The restaurant that is actually good near where you are staying. And the other thing travel does: it can be lonely. Farmiglia is built for both, without turning either into a dating game.
Human company
A person in the same city.
Travel Friends are people open to talking while they are there. You see a photograph, a name, and an age. You ask. They decide. Company is mutual, or it does not happen.
The place is the product.
You arrive with a destination, not a feed of strangers. Presence is a quiet count — how many people are around — never an open city chat you were dropped into.

How it works
A request. A yes. Then a conversation.

Pick the place
Choose a country or drop a pin. Searching a city only browses it. Your location is something you set, never something we follow in the background.

See who is there
Large photo cards. A name, an age, and a role. Advisors know the place. Travel Friends are open to company while they are actually there.

Ask for advice or company
One request, with a reason and an optional note. There is no chat until they accept. There is no public profile to browse.

Talk, then decide
If they accept, you have a private conversation. Destination rooms exist too, but only if you choose to join. Nothing auto-opens.
Roles
One role per city.
Advisor. Champagne on the card. Verified for that city. Their advice stays available after they move. Company only if they are still there.
Travel Friend. A light outline on the card. Instant, and only while that city is their current place.
The same person can advise in one city and keep company in another. Not both in the same city.
What this is not
Built like a travel magazine. Behaves like a private introduction.
- No swipe deck, sparks, or compatibility percentage.
- No browsable profile. The card is the whole introduction.
- No open, unmoderated city room you join by accident.
- No live GPS. Your date of birth stays private; others see age only.
- Adults 18+ only. Zero tolerance for anyone involving a minor.
Questions, answered plainly.
Is Farmiglia a dating app?
No. There is no swipe deck, no compatibility score, and no “looking for” field. People are here for practical help and human company while traveling.
Do you track my location?
No. You set a current place and the places you care about. We do not run continuous GPS.
What is an Advisor?
Someone verified for a specific city: a government ID plus proof they have been there. Until that review is approved, they are not listed as an Advisor.
What is a Travel Friend?
Someone open to talking or meeting in the city they are in right now. If they leave, that company listing goes with them. Advice from an approved Advisor can stay.
When does chat start?
After the other person accepts your request. The card is the introduction. You do not get a profile page, and you do not get a thread before a yes.
